44TH PRESIDENT = CHANGE
A historical time as a world burst opened in jubilation—congratulations to Barack Obama as the first African American elected President of the United States of America and in a landslide victory. Some of us are told change is coming, others of us are told change is already here. Change is a new direction. Choosing Barack Obama by ballot was the first sign of change. The first real challenge was to think and act collectively in a movement going forward. America is on her path to healing—though there’s a yardstick to measure. The first one hundred days is not Obama’s benchmark alone. There is a lot of necessary work ahead. A job well-done or feat is when ‘all’ of our hands are worn-out and the sum total is a whole and complete nation. Obama has said his first order of presidential business will be to tackle the economy. As individuals, we must learn the belt-tightening exercise, for there is a price for extravagance. We must master the art of saving; learn the financial system and make education of wealth a matter of choice—the choice for our family, children and parents. This is the age of Obamanism—learn and teach. This is the change we can believe in.
Read what celebrities wrote about Shaded Canvas
"Shaded Canvas" is an exquisitely written cultural exploration that is truly necessary for gaining a better understanding of today’s society. In this book, the author’s quest for self-discovery provides insights on what it means to be an African-American woman living in the United States. At the heart of her work, Isis shows us that we cannot fully gain an appreciation and understanding of each other until we have a true sense of who we are.
